Chris made his dream come true landing his first April Spring Salmon!

Chris & Stu (Brothers) have both been fishing with me a few times this season already after there mam got them a birthday voucher for a days Guided Spring Salmon Fishing, Chris has since booked several more days with Chasing Fins after enjoying his first day with us so much on our stretch of the Whiteadder.

Chris is the eager one and very passionate to the sport. Stu his brother enjoys to fish and get out and amongst nature and away from work but his main love is Cars. There both great guys. Chris has fished with us three days so far this spring and has been quiet unlucky with Fishing so far, missing a lovely Spring Salmon in the tail of the Hurly Burley’s and having two good pulls which sadly didn’t stick. When I first met Chris I promised him that I would get him a Spring Salmon this season and i stuck to my promise!

Once again the action took part in our Pig Pool, i would say this pool accounts for 60% of the Salmon we land on Ninewells. Chris opted to use his single handed Hardy Ultralite teamed with a single handed trout spey line and a copper Wg tube on the business end. Two casts later and his fly swung around the middle of the pool off the ledge and bang. His line tightened and he lifted into the fish in disbelief. The battle then commenced and his brother Stu quickly began to film the fight while Chris grinned from ear to ear. The fish took a few big lunges and then jumped 6ft out of the river. A beautiful Spring Salmon which glistened in the sun as it cartwheeled in the air. A few tense moments as the fish wallowed around the side trees and vegetation, Chris finally managed to bring the fish to the surface and turned him downstream for me to net it.  Boom!! In the net, I congratulated Chris as he jumped up and down in happiness! What a moment that was that we all shared together. Chris had landed his first Spring Salmon on the Whiteadder. A lovely fish of around 10Ib with a few sea lice on the top of its tail. A quick well done handshake for Chris and a few photos, the fish was quickly put back into the river and returned to carry on with its incredible journey.

A massive congratulations once again Chris, you did it….. and my promise came true!!
