A Superb six week finish to end our 2024 Season…
Mid September through to the end of October provided us with some superb fishing and some very noticeable catches.
After a very slow and difficult Summer due to the lack of rainfall leading to incredibly low river levels and clear water we were over the moon to be inundated with some heavy rain showers and storms towards the middle of September pushing the Whiteadder to well over two metres on the Gauge along with the River Coquet rising to well above two metres at Rothbury. This first serious bit of rain for nearly four months. The river bed was covered in slime and needed a good scrub and freshen up. Jeremy Rudge fished with us on two occasions and had a incredible time landing six Salmon on his first day with us and four on his second trip. The pig pool once again was on fire. Arguably our best pool on the stretch. Our good friend Rob Morris who fishes with us every year had a great two days with us. Landing three salmon, largest around 11Ibs. All fish were taken on a stripped WG copper tube. Stephen Taylor carried on the great sport with a memorable few days fishing with us in early October. This was his first time fishing for Salmon. Over the two days he landed seven Salmon ranging from 4Ibs upto around 14Ibs. Sadly its all downhill from here after having success like that. Congratulations once again Stephen from all of us at Chasing fins.
The rest of October continued to fish well until the last week when the fish began to switch off and became more interested in Spawning. The season finishes at the end of November on the Whiteadder but we decided to finish a month early and leave the fish in piece to carry on with there incredible Journey.
Overall 2024 was a challenging season. As always the Spring was superb, the largest Spring Salmon was around 17Ibs caught by Chris Verechia and multiple first time catches . Spring for 2025 is almost fully booked already at the time of writing this (20/11/24)
Summer was spoilt by the weather with low water for four months. We still had some great sport on the Coquet and Till but the overall sea trout run was poor this year. Hopefully next season the weather is kinder to us through the summer months.
We are already very excited for next season after a few months off over the winter. We will be adding a Quad/ATV to the lineup on our stretch of ninewells to help the older generation with access and walking. We are just about fully booked till mid july already so if your thinking or contemplating booking a trip with us please contact us sooner rather than later. We have a 100% 5 Star rating on google reviews which I am proud to have and we will continue to provide the best service possible to our clients & customers.
