Brinkburn Priory on the River Coquet- A flyfishers Paradise

I was brought up on the banks of the River Coquet when I lived with my mam and dad in Longframlington as a young boy. Fishing for trout and then progressing to Salmon & Sea Trout. Before i left the country to guide in New Zealand & Russia i used to have the Upper Morwick stretch which is upstream of Warkworth. Brinkburn Priory is situated upstream of Weldon Bridge & downstream of Pauperhaugh. I class that section as the middle river and as a child i always wanted to fish the stretch, its alyways been known as one of the best middle stretches on the river not only for Salmon but for Sea trout.

Rewind to last year, when on November 1st 2023 I married my now Wife, Naomi Armstrong at Brinkburn Priory. Not only does Brinkburn have a lovely stretch of River which has always been kept private, but it organises the most incredible weddings and has a superb variety of boutique holiday cottages and accommodation.

The Brinkburn estate and Wedding venue is owned and ran by Mark Fenwick who is working alongside Chasing Fins to offer Bespoke Fishing Holidays & Guiding over the coming few years. Boutique accommodation is available on the Brinkburn estate. We have already launched two sets of dates which have since been booked for Three day fishing packages later this season.

We will be looking to launch a page on our website over the coming six months with everything Brinkburn can offer for our Fishing Clients. Once we have finished our Spring Season on the Whiteadder we will be moving over to the Coquet and seeing what this beautiful stretch can offer for Salmon & Sea trout Fishing.

Best wishes & Tightlines
